How to make Money Online - Using Fiverr

Updated on April 22, 2013

Fiverr - What services can you offer?

Many of us wants to earn money online, it sounds easy and fast, but it's not always is. With Fiverr you can easyly earn some spare money by offering a service you think you can provide, you decide the service you want to do and people will come and order your service if they think it's worth buying.

Fiverr is a place for people to share things they're willing to do for $5. There's thousands of different "gigs" on fiverr where people are doing different services for five dollar, everything from writing, making videos, graphic work, well pretty much everything really.

The website is a simple idea where the users are both the customers and the sellers, it's easy to get started with Fiverr if you know just a few tricks, I will try my best to give you advice on how to get customers, getting started and help you find a unique and creative service that you can offer.

What can you offer?

When starting to selling services on Fiverr you need to think about what you're really good at. Maybe you're good at writing? drawing? making videos? making websites?

Important to think about is the service shouldn't take to long for you to complete, because the pay isn't great on Fiverr the website suits faster and easy to complete services better. This is one of Fiverr's both strength and weakness.

The best thing to do when getting started is to browse the site and see what other people offer.

Writing articles is one popular niche that many people offers, and a lot of people are looking for writers. You will get paid $4 per 400-500 words, so if you think you're a fast writer that might be something for you. Offer a unique writing service that specializing in writing article about a certain topic, that will help you stand out and get notice, you could choose to write about your hobby and interests for example.

If you don't have any special skill or talent, there's plenty of services that you can offer anyway, for example you can offers a "I will hold a sign and take a picture of myself" gig, there's always a demand for those kind of services, so get your camera ready and smile!

Getting Started with Fiverr

Here are a few things to consider when starting to use Fiverr as a new member.

Don't start a service/gig that has insane amount of competition, do a quick search on Fiverr and see what other people are offering, see if you can compete with them and offer more in your service or try adding your own twist to your service and make it unique.

The gig description is very important. Make sure that you are very clear on what your service is offering and what you're not offering. There's plenty of confused customers that will order from you without knowing what they ordered in the first place. So describe your service good to avoid confusion.

Use quality pictures in your gig. Consider both the thumbnail and the pictures the users see when they have clicked on your gig. Have a nice design and good quality so your gig looks professional. Adding a gig video where you explain your gig is also a huge plus and will increase your sales for sure. If you don't know how to make a video that looks good and professional there's plenty of gigs on Fiverr where you can order a amazing video that you can use in your gig.

Always over deliver. Happy customers means good ratings, and good ratings means more sales. So make sure that all your customers are happy after they order so that they will leave a good review and rating. Over delivering is a great trick for getting happy customers, give them a extra bonus or more then they expected and you will see lots of virtual smiles out there.

What do you get paid?

It's a bit sneaky that the site is called Fiverr because you actually don't get paid five dollars for each service you sell. It's actually less then 4 dollars per service and sale.

Fiverr.com takes out a fee of 20% of each sale you make. And then Paypal takes a fee also (much lower then Fiverr thou, maybe 20 cent on a five dollar order)

This might sound like no money at all but that's just something you have to consider when starting to use Fiverr. Offers services that take very little time for you to complete. I try to avoid services that take more then 30 mins to complete for me. But that's up to you how low and time consuming your gigs are going to be.

Examples of gigs (my gigs)

Here are some examples of some services I offer on Fiverr, maybe this will give you some idea of what you can offer on Fiverr. You can click the images to get access to the gig so you can see more details or maybe order one of them ;)

I will draw a avatar/profile picture of your choice for $5

In this gig I will draw a simple picture with whatever the customer want me to draw.

I will draw anything in ms paint for you for $5

I will translate anything from english to swedish or the other way around for $5

This is one of my old and inactive gigs, but it was very successful, I translated with the help of google translate peoples articles and texts, I got about a order per day, this would work for any language really, so if you know any other languages except English you can start one of these gigs.

Conclusion: Pros and Cons of Fiverr.com

So is Fiverr for you? Got any ideas of a great gig that you think would work? There's really only one way of finding out if a gig is going to work and bring you money, and that's to try it out. There's endless of possiblites when it comes to gig and services you can offer, be unquie, be creative and start your gig today.
